Dubai-based free-to-air kids channel Spacetoon and licensing division Ink ALC have sewed up a number of broadcast and licensing deals in the lead-up to MIPTV.

New pickups launched this month include Power Rangers Dino Charge (season 22), which is being promoted by Spacetoon in partnership with Bandai ME and Toy Triangle, and the newest season of Japanese hit Doraemon .

Spacetoon has a long-term promotional strategy currently in the works for Doraemon, in collaboration with Asian film distribution, publishing and licensing group Animation International and Japanese network TV Asahi Corporation.

The channel has also snapped up girl-skewing animated preschool series Little Charmers from Canada’s Nelvana Enterprises, as well as ALVINNN!!! and the Chipmunks! from PGS Entertainment. Both series will begin broadcasting in April.

For licensing activity, recently formed Ink ALC has secured stationery, coloring book and apparel deals for Bidaya Media-owned IP Iftah Ya Simsim, the first Arabic-language version of Sesame Street in 25 years.

Since launching in 2000, Spacetoon has amassed an audience of more than 130 million viewers across 22 countries in the Middle East and North Africa and grown its YouTube audience to more than 120 million. It also recently launched its first-ever international co-production, Mia, with France’s Cyber Group Studios, Sardine Productions in Canada, and Spacetoon’s own Malaysian affiliate Lalune Light Studio.
